Surgical Operating Microscope for Ukraine

Since the start of the war we have been working closely with Professor Colonel Serhii and his team, who are based in southern Ukraine, where they have treated thousands of war victims. As well as working in hospital, they work in the field on the front-line.

We have had a special fundraising project this year, to provide Professor Serhii with a portable surgical operating microscope, led by Doctor Ling Lee. Through events including a concert at Claremont Church, Bolton (photo left) and a promise auction at Inglewhite Church, and other generous donations, the funds were raised to buy a powerful ‘Prescott’s Featherlite’ microscope. Which will enable Professor Serhii and his team to see injuries clearly and operate with the same precision out in the field as they can in the hospital.

The centre photo shows the microscope being delivered to our warehouse by Medical Aid International, the photo right shows Dr Ling viewing the microscope.

The next stage of the journey for the surgical operating microscope was to travel to Ukraine in one of the ambulances that we sent over recently. The video below shows Rev. Bernard Cocker, our Founder & CEO handing over the ambulance and the surgical operating microscope to Professor Serhii and his team in Ukraine, along with an ambulance which will act as a mobile operating theatre.

We give thanks to God for his good provision, for Dr Ling and all who helped to raise funds for the microscope, and all who helped to get it to where it is needed. We pray for God’s protection and peace for Professor Serhii and team as they work in difficult and dangerous situations. We pray that the microscope, as it allows them to operate in the field to repair injuries, will save vital time and help to save many lives.
