A message from our dear Sofia — a truly brave and inspiring young lady.
Since the beginning of the war, Sofia has faithfully led the youth groups from our Soborna Church in Kyiv. Together, they have travelled thousands upon thousands of kilometres, sometimes with us, and often by themselves, bringing the love of Christ and precious humanitarian aid to wounded soldiers, refugee families and children across Ukraine — from the eastern front to the south and north-east of the country.
They have delivered shoebox gifts to displaced children, encouragement to those living through unimaginable hardship, and practical help to people in some of the most dangerous areas of Ukraine.
We are blessed with remarkably gifted young musicians and singers, but their greatest gift is their willingness to serve. Our young people are not simply the future of our churches; they are the Church in action today.
At times, we have to literally hold them back from going into the most dangerous places, such is their love for Ukraine and their desire to help others.
In the summer months they arrange and run our children’s camps, and love doing it ❤️
Sofia has promised to record video messages giving us a glimpse of her daily life and ministry in Kyiv. Please keep her, and all our wonderful young people, in your prayers.
“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” — 1 Timothy 4:12

Dear Rev Bernard,
Today has been another truly heartbreaking day for us. Last night was incredibly difficult, bringing more destruction and the tragic loss of many lives. With each passing attack, the strikes become more intense, and it becomes harder and harder to endure.
Yet the Lord continues to protect us, and we are pressing on with our preparations for the next children’s festivals.
We do not hide the fact that our hearts are heavy. The economic situation in our country continues to worsen, and we can clearly see how difficult it is becoming to sustain and develop this ministry. Even so, we have not lost our hope. More than ever, we want to serve these children, to give them joy, love, and the reminder that God has not abandoned them, even in the darkest days.
Despite the sleepless nights, the constant air raid sirens, the destruction, and the sorrow around us, we continue to believe that the Lord is with us. Sometimes it is difficult to trust and to look toward the future when one tragic event follows another. But in those very moments, we choose to hold even more firmly to God’s promises.
Please continue to pray for us—for our team, for the children, for Ukraine, and for this ministry. Your prayers, encouragement, and faithful support mean far more to us than words can express.
May the Lord richly bless you, your family, and all the ministry that you and all your International Aid Trust teams are doing. With heartfelt gratitude, respect, and Christian love,
Sofia and the entire youth & children’s camp team of Soborna Church.
